Teaching Maths

That's what I am up to these days, teaching maths. I have taken up the task of 'teaching' maths to my cousin's kid. He is in the 6th class, and yesterday was my first day of 'tuition'.
I was trying to teach him the concepts. Like what happens when you divide a number by another number. He needs to learn fractions for his unit test, but somehow, I get the feeling that he needs to understand division first.
I still remember that it took me till 9th class to fully 'get' maths. And once I did that, it was a breeze. The only feeling I can compare it to is learning to ride the bicycle. Once you get it, you get it.
I searched the net for some useful hints on teaching maths to kids, and came across this interesting site from Cambridge. http://nrich.maths.org/public/
It would be wonderful if this kid 'gets' maths. I hope he does, and enjoys wonderful times with maths like I did.
